St. Petersburg experienced its hottest day of the year on July 30th, with temperatures reaching a high of +31.9 degrees Celsius. While this fell slightly short of breaking the all-time record, it was the warmest day the city has seen so far this year.
The city’s chief meteorologist, Alexander Kolesov, reported the high temperature on July 31st. The average daily temperature on July 30th reached +26.8 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest day since the beginning of the year. The night temperature was also the highest recorded, at +21.6 degrees Celsius.
Kolesov acknowledged the possibility of August bringing even higher temperatures but stated that it is not expected. The record for the hottest day in St. Petersburg remains July 30, 2012, with a temperature of +32.1 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead, Kolesov predicts that the high temperatures will persist for the next few days, with temperatures around +30 degrees Celsius, accompanied by brief rain showers. Next week is expected to bring slightly less intense heat, with temperatures remaining under +30 degrees Celsius before a cooling trend begins.
