Six-Year-Old Girl Abducted in Asbest, Russia

A six-year-old girl was abducted in Asbest, Russia, on June 7th but has been found safe after police stormed an apartment where she was being held. The Investigative Committee reports that the child was lured away from a playground with the promise of roller skates and sweets.

Law enforcement officials have commented on the incident, stating that the suspect approached the girl while she was playing outside and offered her roller skates. After skating, the woman bought the girl ice cream before taking her by bus to her residence. Authorities stated preliminary information indicates no violence was used against the child.

The parents allowed their daughter to play in a playground near their home. They contacted the police after discovering she was missing.

A criminal case has been opened under the article “Kidnapping of a knowingly minor.” The suspect, born in 1985, is a local unemployed resident with no prior convictions but is on the appropriate register. She has been detained, and authorities will decide whether to take her into custody. She will also undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluations.

Valery Gorelykh, an official representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said 62 police officers were involved in the search. He added that the girl’s family is not registered and the child attends kindergarten. An administrative case has been opened against the parents for improper upbringing of a child for leaving their daughter unattended.

Local residents reported that the detainee previously taught children to dance and has a daughter who lives with her parents. She had also been seen watching other people’s children.
