A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 13 years in a strict regime penal colony for armed robbery, attempted murder, and theft. The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk found the resident of Kuzbass guilty of several crimes including an attack on a car seller. The sentence is not yet legally binding.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region reported that the man, originally from the Kemerovo region, used the internet to find a victim to steal an expensive car from. He located an advertisement for a BMW X6 and arranged to meet the seller in Novosibirsk on January 17, 2023, under the pretense of inspecting the vehicle for purchase.

During the meeting, while inside the car with the owner, the attacker stabbed the seller multiple times in vital areas. The Investigative Committee stated that the victim managed to escape the car and run away, thwarting the completion of the murder attempt.

The investigation also revealed that the convicted man stole the victim’s phone from the car, resulting in damages exceeding 7,000 rubles.
