A woman was killed and a 12-year-old girl was injured in the Belgorod region of Russia on June 1, following a series of drone attacks across several regions. Air defense systems reportedly downed numerous drones, but some attacks resulted in civilian casualties and property damage.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that a private house in the village of Proletarsky was completely destroyed by a direct hit from a shell, resulting in the death of a woman whose body was recovered from the rubble.
A 12-year-old girl, who was riding a bicycle near the house at the time of the collapse, sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance with a concussion. Emergency services, self-defense forces, and volunteers are currently working at the scene.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defense systems intercepted 53 drones between 8:10 PM and 9:45 PM Moscow time. The drones were shot down over the Kursk (34), Belgorod (14), Bryansk (4), and Oryol (1) regions.
Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any drone sightings to emergency services by calling 112. When reporting a drone, individuals should provide their name, address, a description of the drone (including its appearance, sound, and movement), and then immediately leave the area and warn others if possible. If a drone is found on the ground, people are instructed not to approach or touch it, but to call 112 immediately.
