Severouralsk City Day Celebration and Concert Canceled Due to Enterovirus Outbreak

Severouralsk has canceled all mass gatherings, including the City Day celebration and a concert by Svetlana Kashina, formerly of the “Kombinatsiya” group, due to an enterovirus infection outbreak. The decision follows a decree from Rospotrebnadzor.

The City Day concert, initially scheduled for July 11, 2025, has been postponed indefinitely, according to the Severouralsk city district administration. A new date and time will be announced later.

Enterovirus infection (EVI) is easily transmitted through various means. The virus spreads via contaminated hands, toys, and food, and also through respiratory droplets. Swimming in stagnant water, like ponds and lakes, can also lead to infection.

Symptoms of EVI include fever, runny nose, sore throat, and, in some cases, diarrhea and rash.

Children under 14 are particularly susceptible to EVI, although adults can contract the virus without showing any symptoms.

Health officials advise practicing preventative measures to minimize the risk of infection. These measures include washing hands thoroughly with soap, properly preparing food, and consuming only boiled or bottled water.

The Severouralsk administration has clarified that tap water in the city is not contaminated with viral agents.

The “Kombinatsiya” group, known for its popularity in the late 1980s, was founded in 1988 by producer Alexander Shishinin. Svetlana Kashina from Nizhny Tagil joined the group as a soloist in 1992, following Alena Apina’s departure, and left in the spring of 1993.
