Severe weather conditions have recently impacted both Syktyvkar in the Komi Republic and Moscow, causing significant flooding and damage.
In Syktyvkar, a powerful storm on June 10th brought intense lightning, heavy rain, and strong winds, leading to widespread flooding. Streets and building entrances were submerged, and vehicles struggled to navigate the flooded roadways. The storm also toppled trees and traffic signs, with some trees falling onto power lines, resulting in power outages.
Moscow experienced an abnormal downpour the previous night, resulting in the flooding of a metro station and disruptions to airport operations. The heavy rainfall also caused traffic disruptions and damaged gardens due to hail. Part of the roof collapsed at the Vnukovo terminal, leading to water pouring inside.
During the downpour in Moscow, an employee of Mosvodostok was injured when a strong current of water dragged him into the Chertanovka River collector. He was rescued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the help of colleagues and passers-by.
