A powerful storm, featuring rain, hail, and strong winds, struck St. Petersburg, causing damage to infrastructure and property. The intense weather event swept through the city within an hour.
The storm’s impact included damage to trees, buildings, and vehicles. A traffic light near the Peter and Paul Fortress was uprooted by the strong gusts of wind, falling onto a nearby fence. Several trees were felled in different parts of the city, including along the Kronverkskaya Embankment and in Alexandrovsky Park, near the Cathedral Mosque.
Buildings also sustained damage. The roof of a building on Vsevoloda Vishnevsky Street was torn off, landing on a parked car and damaging its hood. Additionally, on Akademika Lebedeva Street, a house roof was blown onto the road, damaging a BMW. On Uralskaya Street, a tree was uprooted and fell, though no injuries have been reported.
According to Yandex Weather, no further precipitation is expected in the city for the next two hours. However, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a weather warning for both today, July 31, and tomorrow, August 1, indicating the potential for further adverse weather conditions.
