Serious Car Accident in Yekaterinburg

A major car accident occurred in the center of Yekaterinburg on the evening of July 30th, leaving two people seriously injured and multiple vehicles damaged. The incident took place when a Lexus, reportedly running a red light, collided with a Rover at an intersection.

The force of the impact caused the Rover to break apart, and its two occupants were rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Debris from the collision scattered across the intersection, striking the Hermes-Plaza shopping center and two other vehicles—a Toyota Camry and a Kia—that were stopped at a traffic light. Fortunately, no pedestrians were injured in the incident.

The Lexus involved in the accident has Chelyabinsk license plates and, according to available information, has been registered to a resident of Snezhinsk for over three years. The vehicle has been involved in two previous incidents, one a collision in the Sverdlovsk region and another involving a detached wheel in the Novgorod region.

Records indicate the Lexus driver has accumulated 75 traffic fines. The majority of these fines are for speeding violations, ranging from 20-40 kilometers per hour over the limit, with some instances exceeding 60-80 kilometers per hour. Other violations include running a red light, disregarding road markings and traffic signs, and failing to pay for parking.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the driver and passenger of the Lexus appeared to be in an altered state. However, there has been no official confirmation of this claim. There were two people in the Lexus at the time of the accident.
