Search Expanded for Missing Moscow Student Varvara Panina

The search for 21-year-old Varvara Panina, a student who disappeared on June 9, 2025, has been expanded after new information placed her in the Moscow area. LizaAlert reported that the search area now includes the city of Khimki, after evidence suggested Panina arrived at Sheremetyevo Airport near Moscow.

Panina was last seen leaving her home in Zhdanovsky, near Nizhny Novgorod. Her parents have since reported receiving daily threats and demands for money in exchange for her release, leading them to believe she has been kidnapped. They claim to have received videos showing Panina in distress, including footage of her naked and claims of violence.

Prior to her disappearance, Panina was recorded at Nizhny Novgorod airport and later at Sheremetyevo Airport. Her father, Vladimir, revealed that she had borrowed a substantial amount of money from relatives, pawned her wedding ring, and taken out a loan, totaling approximately 200,000 rubles. He suspects she may have been the victim of a scam related to an increased scholarship she was seeking at the university. He believes she was lured to Moscow under false pretenses.

Varvara Panina is described as having light curly hair and blue eyes, with a height of about 160 centimeters. On the day she disappeared, she was wearing a light beige dress and carrying a blue backpack and a phone.

Anyone with information about Varvara Panina’s whereabouts is urged to contact LizaAlert at 8 (800) 700-54-52 or by calling 112. The case is currently under investigation, and Panina has been placed on the federal wanted list.
