School Fined After Shooting Stand Injury

A school in St. Petersburg has been fined 50,000 rubles after a homemade shooting stand collapsed on a second-grade student, causing serious injuries. The incident occurred on February 12th in the Frunzensky district, when the unsecured structure fell on the child during extended day activities.

The student was immediately transported to the Rauchfuss Children’s Hospital and placed in intensive care due to the severity of the injuries. Authorities determined that the school failed to ensure the safety and well-being of its students, specifically violating their rights to protection of life and health.

A representative of the school admitted full responsibility for the incident during the court proceedings. The court subsequently issued the fine on June 2nd.

Following the incident, the school took disciplinary action against all employees involved in the installation of the shooting stand. Furthermore, a criminal investigation into potential negligence by the director of the educational institution has been completed, suggesting further legal ramifications are possible.
