A section of scaffolding collapsed from the facade of a building on Zagorodny Prospekt in St. Petersburg this afternoon, causing a brief disruption to traffic.

The incident, which occurred at house number 17, was captured on social media on June 5th. Eyewitnesses reported a loud crash as the scaffolding fell.

The collapse temporarily halted the movement of trolleybuses on nearby routes.

The Capital Repair Fund attributed the collapse to a combination of factors including adverse weather conditions, the “sail effect” on the structure, and unreliable fastenings.

The contracting organization responsible for the scaffolding has been fined.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.

According to a statement from the press service of the Capital Repair Fund, the debris from the collapse will be cleared within two hours.

Following the cleanup, a thorough diagnosis of the scaffolding structure will be conducted, and additional fasteners will be installed to prevent future incidents.

The Capital Repair Fund has stated that they are actively monitoring the situation at the site. Construction work on the building began in April, and as of today, 31% of the total project has been completed.
