Saturn to Become Visible in Novosibirsk Skies Starting June 10th

Saturn will be visible in the night sky over Novosibirsk starting June 10th, offering residents a chance to observe the planet and its rings. This celestial event follows a period of invisibility since February 19th.

Oleg Kashin, a specialist from the Bolshoi Novosibirsk Planetarium, announced the upcoming visibility. This time, viewers will be able to see Saturn’s rings, a feature that wasn’t observable in recent months.

According to Kashin, the visibility of the rings fluctuates over a 15-year cycle. When Earth aligns with the plane of Saturn’s rings, they appear less prominent. Now, the rings will reappear as a thin strip.

The rings are expected to gradually widen in appearance, reaching their optimal viewing point around 2040.

Prior to this, in early May, Novosibirsk residents were able to witness the peak of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower, with up to 50 meteors per hour visible during the peak.
