Russians to Work Six-Day Week Before November Long Weekend

Russians will work a six-day week leading up to the National Unity Day holiday in November. The holiday, celebrated annually on November 4th, will provide a three-day weekend from November 2nd to 4th.

To accommodate the extended holiday, Saturday, November 1st, will be a working day. This adjustment ensures that the holiday weekend does not reduce the total number of working hours.

The extended break is due to National Unity Day falling on a Monday. The holiday commemorates the events of 1612, specifically the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders by the people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky.

The change in the work schedule will not affect wages. The current holiday weekend for Russia Day on June 12 is coming to an end, following a work week of only three days, from June 9 to June 11.
