Russian Railways experienced a significant DDoS attack on its website and mobile application on June 6, causing disruptions for users attempting to access services. The attack, announced via the railway’s Telegram channel, primarily affected the website and mobile app, leading to difficulties in purchasing electronic tickets.

Despite the cyberattack, Russian Railways assured the public that ticket offices at stations and railway stations are functioning as usual, ensuring that ticket sales continue without interruption.

According to Downdetector, the disruptions began around 10:00 am, with a sharp increase in reported issues by 11:00 am. Users reported that the company’s website was not loading and they were unable to purchase electronic tickets. Complaints also surfaced regarding the “Passengers” mobile application. The disruptions were particularly noted in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tver, and Leningrad regions.
