The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has declared that the hand luggage requirements imposed by Pobeda Airlines are illegal. This announcement was made on Friday, May 30th, following an inspection by the department.
The inspection revealed that Pobeda Airlines intentionally created conditions that were virtually impossible for passengers to meet. The permitted dimensions for hand luggage were found to be significantly smaller than necessary, in some cases by as much as 4 cm in width. This forced many passengers to pay for additional baggage.
The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that Pobeda Airlines “deliberately created deliberately unacceptable conditions that exclude the possibility of freely transporting things, the dimensions of which are not subject to restriction by law.” Items that should be allowed free of charge include garment bags, child carriers, folding wheelchairs, handbags, briefcases, and backpacks.
The Prosecutor General’s Office has not yet specified what actions will be taken against Pobeda Airlines as a result of these findings.
A request for comment has been sent to the press service of Pobeda Airlines and will be published as soon as a response is received.
