Russian Ninth-Graders Take the Main State Exam in Russian Language

Ninth-grade students across Russia participated in the OGE Russian language exam today, with 116,000 students taking the test in Moscow. The exam, a crucial step in their education, is designed to assess their understanding and proficiency in the Russian language.

The Russian language OGE, lasting nearly four hours, is comprised of three sections incorporating a total of 13 tasks. The exam includes a concise summary of an audio text, a block of seven short-answer tasks, and a comprehensive essay. A minimum score of 15 points is required to pass. Official results are expected to be released by June 18.

Student feedback regarding the difficulty of the exam has been varied. Some students felt well-prepared and found the exam manageable, while others encountered challenges. Several students expressed gratitude for the support and preparation provided by their teachers throughout the academic year. Some students found the essay topics challenging.

Many students reported that the exam went easier than expected, especially if they had prepared or have been studying since first grade. Others found specific sections, like the essay, more challenging, especially the topic of ‘What does it mean to love life?’. Online preparation groups saw students sharing relief at encountering familiar tasks, and disappointment with specific essay topics.

The OGE in Russian language served as the final exam for many students. Remaining elective subject exams, including literature, physics, biology, and computer science, are scheduled for June 16. Prior to this, on June 3, students completed the OGE in mathematics.
