Natalia Tenyakova, a renowned Russian actress and People’s Artist of Russia, has died at the age of 80. She was the widow of director Sergei Yursky.

The actress’s death was caused by cardiac arrest. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei Davydov confirmed the cause of death. Sources indicate that Tenyakova experienced a surge in blood pressure due to severe anxiety, which had occurred previously in the days leading up to her death.

Tenyakova had been scheduled to perform in the play “9th Row. 10th, 11th seat” at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater on June 26.

In early 2025, Tenyakova had been experiencing health issues, causing her to miss performances. In January, she communicated that she was receiving treatment at home following a period of hospitalization. She expressed hope to return to the stage.

Her colleague, actress Lada Sizonenko, remembered her fondly, saying, “It is difficult to realize that a person of this magnitude is leaving. It was very easy to work with her. She is very cheerful, she is such a spark.”

Tenyakova is survived by her daughter, Natalya Yurskaya, who is the heir to her estate. Her assets include a country house near Noginsk estimated at 30 million rubles, a Moscow apartment valued at 18 million rubles, a vehicle, and works of art.

The burial will take place at the Troyekurovsky cemetery, and the date of the funeral will be announced later. The actress passed away on June 18, just two weeks before her 81st birthday on July 3.
