Russia Aims to Significantly Increase Space Launches by 2036

Russia plans to drastically increase its space launch capacity, potentially reaching 113 launches per year by 2036, aiming for a 28% share of the global launch market. Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov announced these ambitious goals, which are part of the revised National Space Project.

The updated plan consolidates all state space initiatives into a unified program, backed by significant funding. Approximately 4.4 to 4.5 trillion rubles have been allocated for the project’s implementation until 2036.

Currently, Russia’s cosmodromes have a launch capacity of 46 launches per year, representing a 6.5% share of the global launch services market. Over the next five years, the country aims to increase its launch capacity to 66 launches per year.

The revision of the National Space Project followed instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the need for a coordinated and comprehensive approach to space exploration.
