Almost 400 kg of substandard animal products have been seized and destroyed by Rosselkhoznadzor from stores in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region due to gross violations. The agency reported the details of the operation on its website on July 4.
During inspections of eleven retail outlets, inspectors discovered various violations, including the absence of necessary veterinary documentation for animal products.
As a result, unsafe cheeses, butter, meat semi-finished products, chicken carcasses, milk, condensed milk, and other products were removed from store shelves. A total of 360 kilograms of potentially unsafe products were seized and will be disposed of.
Orders on violations were issued against Vostorg 53 LLC, Mayak LLC, Ukrainianets LLC, and Vostorg 76 LLC.
An unscheduled inspection of Mayak stores also revealed the sale of counterfeit products. Ekomilk cottage cheese was found to have an excess of yeast.
