St. Petersburg’s Nevsky Prospekt will undergo road repairs and infrastructure upgrades starting in August, necessitating partial traffic closures. The project aims to improve road conditions and modernize essential utilities, minimizing future disruptions.
The road repairs will focus on the stretch of Nevsky Prospekt between Admiralteysky Prospekt and Vosstaniya Square. Simultaneously, GUP “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” will conduct upgrades to the engineering infrastructure.
Vodokanal’s work includes replacing fire hydrants, updating water supply fittings, and reinforcing concrete structures. This proactive approach aims to modernize the city’s water supply and sanitation systems, enhancing their reliability and resilience. A total of 31 wells, comprising 17 water supply and 14 sewer wells, will be repaired.
Manhole covers will also be replaced throughout the work zone. Six covers are already being replaced, and the remaining replacements will be synchronized with the road repair phases.
The road repairs are scheduled from August 13 to 27 and will involve partial traffic closures. Prior to this, Dvortsovy Proezd will be repaired from August 4 to 8, and tram tracks at the intersection of Nevsky and Liteyny Prospekts will be updated from August 6 to 12, also with partial traffic restrictions.
Public transport operations in the city center will be affected by the restrictions. The metro system will increase its service frequency to mitigate the impact on commuters.
