Restoration Work Begins on the Viktor Tsoi Wall on Arbat Street

The iconic “Tsoi Wall” on Arbat Street in Moscow, a memorial to Viktor Tsoi, the legendary lead singer of the band Kino, is currently undergoing restoration. The wall, which became a symbol of remembrance and fan dedication after Tsoi’s untimely death in 1990, has been a canvas for graffiti and messages from admirers of his work.

Workers at the site have confirmed that “restoration work is underway,” indicating an effort to preserve or rehabilitate the wall.

The “Tsoi Wall” emerged spontaneously on Arbat Street following Tsoi’s death, quickly transforming into a gathering place and a communal expression of grief and admiration. Fans adorned the wall with lyrics, artwork, and personal messages, turning it into a unique cultural landmark.

Recently, a section of the wall has been covered with plaster, suggesting that the restoration process involves more than just cleaning or superficial repairs.

Accompanying the restoration work, an announcement has been posted on a nearby electrical panel, further confirming that the changes are part of a planned project. The sign explicitly states, “Restoration work is underway,” assuring the public that the alterations are intentional and aimed at preserving the memorial.
