Restoration of Moscow City Hall Building Planned for One Billion Rubles

The historic Moscow City Hall building, also known as the Mossovet building, located on Tverskaya Street, is slated for a large-scale renovation project costing approximately 921.7 million rubles (about one billion rubles). The building is a cultural heritage site of federal significance.

The State Budgetary Institution “Financial and Economic Management of the Moscow Mayor’s Office” is managing the project, responsible for maintaining state property in Moscow, including the City Hall. The renovation work is expected to take 464 working days, or more than a year and a half, from the date the contract is signed. A contractor has not yet been selected for the project.

The project documentation indicates the current condition of the Mossovet building is satisfactory, accompanied by photos of the main halls, corridors, and offices.

The planned renovations will encompass various aspects of the building’s interior. The work will involve the restoration of parquet floors, stucco ceilings, painted walls, window frames, and a marble fireplace.

In 2022–2023, the architectural bureau “Abam” prepared a design project for the repair and interior design of the Mossovet building, commissioned by LLC “Engineering Group” and the State Budgetary Institution “Financial and Economic Management of the Moscow Mayor’s Office.” Their design concept envisions a neoclassical style with modern technological integrations, including contemporary furnishings.
