Residents of the Losinoostrovsky and Babushkinsky districts are worried about the future of Babushkinsky Park, a park founded in 1898, following its incorporation into Yauza Park on June 1. Activists fear the park will be downgraded to a square and its infrastructure destroyed.
Concerns arose in April 2025 when residents noticed the dismantling of multimedia equipment and removal of kiosks. The number of security guards was also reduced, fueling fears that attractions, playgrounds, and recreation areas are at risk.
Activists plan to meet with State Duma deputy Sergei Obukhov to address the park’s status change and infrastructure demolition. Obukhov stated that Muscovites are always concerned about the preservation of green spaces.
Elena Yurtaeva, a local activist, believes that the park is being dismantled piece by piece to free up the site for future construction. Nearly two and a half thousand people have joined an activist chat group within a few months.
