Rescue Operation on Karpovka River: Tourist Boat Freed by Quick-Thinking Captain

A stranded tourist boat caused a temporary disruption on the Karpovka River in St. Petersburg on July 31st, but a fellow captain’s quick thinking averted a prolonged delay. The incident occurred near the Petropavlovsky Bridge, where the pleasure craft became lodged across the river, effectively blocking water traffic.

The boat was stuck with its bow and stern wedged against opposite banks of the river.

Witnesses reported that the captain of another similar boat immediately took initiative to resolve the situation. Initially, a rope was used to try and dislodge the stranded vessel by pulling it backward.

This initial attempt to free the boat by reversing proved unsuccessful.

Undeterred, the rescuing captain adjusted their approach. They maneuvered their boat to the side closer to the bow of the stranded vessel.

The rescuing vessel’s front was equipped with a tire, presumably to cushion the impact.

The captain then carefully and deliberately began pushing the stranded boat forward.

After a short time, the applied force freed the boat from its position, allowing it to resume its course.
