Removal of Mazut from Anapa Coastline Set for Completion This Month

Cleanup efforts are underway to remove mazut found on the seabed near the coastline in Anapa, with an expected completion date by the end of June. According to the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory, the focus is on clearing the sandy coast in Anapa.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Kuban, Sergei Shtrikov, stated that 167 divers are actively involved in the operation, but progress is contingent on favorable weather conditions. The cleanup addresses mazut already located on the seabed with divers employing underwater drones for exploration.

Approximately 300 tons of oil products remain to be collected. Authorities anticipate that scientists will offer more effective beach cleaning methods.

Emergency response work has led to the identification of dangerous zones in Anapa and the Temryuk district. In the Temryuk district, the affected area spans the Black Sea coastline from Volna to Veselovka. In Anapa, the dangerous zone includes the Black Sea coastline within the resort city limits, extending from Veselovka to the Utrish reserve.

Restrictions are in place, prohibiting residents from swimming and visiting the coastal territory and beaches within the designated dangerous zones. The recreational use of these areas is also forbidden, encompassing all services, including rentals and water attractions.
