Record Low Atmospheric Pressure in Moscow Due to Cyclone

Moscow is experiencing record-low atmospheric pressure due to the impact of Cyclone “Cornelius,” which has brought heavy rainfall and flooding to the city for several days. Today, June 30th, marked a historic low in pressure readings.

The atmospheric pressure in Moscow has reached a record low for June 30th in almost 150 years of weather observations.

At 10 a.m. at the VDNKh base weather station, barometers measured 728.3 mm Hg, slightly lower than the previous record set on this day 45 years prior, in 1980. Further decrease in barometer readings is expected.

Meteorologists predict that normal atmospheric pressure will return to Moscow by the beginning of the weekend.

Moscow has received approximately 15% of its monthly rainfall in the last 24 hours, and meteorologist Evgeny Tishkovets forecasts an additional 62% of the monthly norm between June 30th and July 2nd.

As of 11 a.m. in St. Petersburg, the atmospheric pressure was recorded at 747.4 mm Hg, according to the North-West Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
