A significant rat infestation has been reported in the courtyard of a building on Vaynera Street in Yekaterinburg. Residents have expressed concern over the large number of rodents observed scurrying around the container site.
According to a local resident who captured the scene on video, the problem is exacerbated by nearby shops and cafes improperly disposing of food waste in the area. The abundance of food attracts the rats and contributes to their proliferation.
Residents claim they have already alerted the management company to the issue. However, the Standard Management Company’s dispatch service stated that they have not received any official requests for pest control services for the Vaynera Street location. The dispatch service urged residents to formally file a request so that the matter can be addressed.
This is not the first instance of rat problems in the central Yekaterinburg area. Previously, residents of another courtyard on Pushkin Street reported similar issues with unusually large rats infesting their neighborhood. These rats were seen running around the house and even hiding under parked vehicles.
Other districts of Yekaterinburg, including Akademichesky, have also reported increased rodent activity. Complaints about rats have been on the rise in various parts of the city, with residents in the city center documenting rats running openly in the streets. A local biologist has provided insights into the potential reasons behind the recent surge in the city’s rat population.
