Rare 1956 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Roadster for Sale in Novosibirsk

A rare 1956 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster is being offered for sale in Novosibirsk, Russia, for 16,000,000 rubles. The classic sports car boasts a 1.9-liter gasoline engine producing 105 hp, coupled with a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

The vehicle has undergone a comprehensive restoration by experts, with the body, components, and assemblies meticulously repaired and returned to pristine condition. The car is reported to be fully broken in and ready for use, and is currently registered in Novosibirsk.

With only 1500 km of mileage since its break-in, this 1956 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a true legend of its time. Originally presented in March 1957 at the Geneva Motor Show, the convertible (W198 II) represented a move to transform racing technology into a luxury passenger vehicle.

The 300 SL Roadster quickly gained recognition as a symbol of status and technical advancement. In contrast to the coupe version, known for its distinctive “gullwing” doors, the convertible features traditional swing doors, a strengthened frame, and a more refined suspension system. The original models were lavishly appointed with genuine leather upholstery, an ivory steering wheel, and a dashboard that exemplified the elegance of mid-20th century design.

The car became a Hollywood icon, attracting celebrity owners such as Sophia Loren and Elvis Presley.
