A rare 1837 edition of Alexander Pushkin’s novel in verse “Eugene Onegin” is being offered for sale in Novosibirsk, Russia, for 100,000 rubles.
The advertisement for the antique book appeared on the Avito website, a popular online marketplace. The seller notes that while the first page of the book is missing, the publication year is confirmed by a library stamp.
Irina, the seller, stated the book came from her mother’s possessions and possibly originated from her uncle, who studied in Omsk. She decided to sell the book because she has no personal need for it, hoping her nephews might be interested.
Although she has received no offers yet, Irina believes the price of 100,000 rubles is reasonable after comparing it to the prices of other similar antique books. She noted that similar copies are being sold at much higher prices.
This sale follows a recent announcement of a white Mercedes-Benz SUV, owned by the wife of a former top manager of the Meshalkin clinic, being put up for electronic auction in Novosibirsk.
