Yekaterinburg is bracing for rain and a slight temperature decrease starting Thursday, June 13, as Cyclone Wammes approaches from Scandinavia. The cyclone, originating from the Arctic front, is expected to reach the Urals region, bringing with it a shift in weather patterns.
The arrival of the cyclone follows a period of high temperatures in the Sverdlovsk region. Tuesday, June 10, saw temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius, but the incoming tropical air mass, laden with moisture, made the heat feel more intense.
Earlier in the week, the Ural Hydrometeorological Center had predicted short-term rains and thunderstorms for the northern parts of the Sverdlovsk region between June 10 and 11. The southern region, including Yekaterinburg, experienced hot and primarily dry conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the forecast indicates an increased chance of rain in the south and in Yekaterinburg by Thursday, accompanied by a slight dip in temperatures.
