More than 25 trains were delayed due to an incident on the railway in the Voronezh region. The situation is gradually improving, with some trains resuming their journeys.
The Federal Passenger Company announced the train delays around 1:00 p.m. on June 5. The Public Relations Center of the FSB of the Russian Federation reported that the railway in the Voronezh region was damaged as a result of a bombing, and a criminal case on a terrorist act has been opened. At 3:11 p.m., Russian Railways announced that the damage to the tracks had been repaired and train traffic had been restored.
Several of the stranded trains were traveling from St. Petersburg. Passengers shared their experiences, noting that the delays caused unscheduled stops. One passenger on train No. 277 St. Petersburg – Anapa reported being stopped at Liski station for over three hours. She found out about the reason for the delay through Telegram channels and received a message from Russian Railways about technical reasons. According to her, the atmosphere remained comfortable, and passengers were allowed to walk around the station.
Another passenger on train No. 49 St. Petersburg – Kislovodsk also experienced a three-hour delay at Liski station. While their train eventually started moving, others were still waiting for departure.
A passenger on train 099A St. Petersburg – Adler reported that their train had not been delayed yet, but the conductor warned of potential issues due to the incident in the Voronezh region. The train might have to bypass the area or wait for clearance to proceed.
