Qurban Bayram Festive Prayer to Be Held in Kommunarka at Interreligious Center Under Construction

Over 200,000 believers are expected to gather at various locations in Moscow for Qurban Bayram on June 6. The main event will take place in Kommunarka, at the site of the future interreligious center. Additional venues have been designated in Tekstilshchiki and New Moscow to accommodate the large crowds.

The festive namaz in Kommunarka will begin with a Koran reading at 5:30 a.m., followed by a sermon at 7:00 a.m., and the prayer itself at 8:00 a.m. The “Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia” is organizing the event with the support of the Moscow government. Volunteers will be present to assist attendees, and signage will be installed for easy navigation.

Preparations are underway at the Kommunarka site, where a stage has been erected. The area is located near the Olkhovaya metro station, at the intersection of Staroprokshinsky highway and Kaluzhskoye highway. Security measures will be in place, including thorough checks of attendees, and hand luggage will be prohibited.

The interreligious center, once completed, will include a large mosque designed for six thousand people, making it the third-largest Muslim religious center in Moscow. Named after Mukhammedzhan Khusainov, the first Mufti of Russia, the Moscow Central Cathedral Mosque will be a central feature of the complex.

In addition to the mosque, the interreligious center will house Orthodox, Buddhist, and Jewish religious centers, as well as educational centers, a library, and a museum of Islamic art. Each religious building will occupy 2,000 square meters. The nearest public transportation stop is designated as the “Cultural and Educational Center,” a gray two-story building.
