Putin Outlines Key National Goals at Economic Meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin has identified key national goals during an economic meeting held in Strelna. The meeting, which took place on June 18, focused on strengthening Russia’s economic standing and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

During the meeting, Putin stressed the importance of bolstering Russia’s industrial and financial sovereignty. He also highlighted the need to achieve technological leadership and expand transport and logistics links both domestically and internationally.

According to Putin, a primary objective is to enhance the well-being of the population. This includes improving the appearance of cities and towns, developing the healthcare and education systems, and addressing environmental concerns.

The President proposed a discussion on legislative measures to further develop the country’s economy and social sphere. He also referenced the tasks established at the Council for Strategic Development meeting in December 2024, which included balanced growth and structural economic changes.

Furthermore, Putin indicated that some of the topics discussed would be continued at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is scheduled to run from June 18–21. The forum’s central theme revolves around the idea that “Common values ​​are the basis for growth in a multipolar world.” SPIEF-2025 anticipates the participation of 20,000 representatives from 140 countries and territories. The plenary session featuring President Putin is slated for June 20.
