President Vladimir Putin has called for an immediate increase in the combat capabilities of Russia’s ground forces. He made the statement at a meeting on the state armament program, stressing the dominant role these forces play in all levels of conflict.
The focus should be on creating a strong foundation for development, including the creation of advanced weapon systems and the preparation of infrastructure for their deployment.
Putin also proposed discussing the key parameters of the next state armament program (SAP) for the period up to 2036, which will serve as a guideline for the development of weapons systems for the Armed Forces. This program will prioritize modern systems, incorporating lessons learned from the ongoing special military operation and other regional conflicts.
Special attention will be given to strategic nuclear deterrence forces. Putin highlighted the importance of the nuclear triad as a guarantor of Russia’s sovereignty and its key role in maintaining the global balance of power. He stated that the share of modern weapons and equipment in Russia’s strategic nuclear forces is already at 95%, the highest among all nuclear powers.
