Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed the government to develop and implement support measures for fathers with three or more children. The announcement came during a meeting with large families, prompted by a specific appeal for expanded assistance.
The request originated from a large family in the Sverdlovsk Region, who highlighted the existing limitations in calculating seniority for retirement purposes. Currently, only the care periods for up to four children are considered when determining pension eligibility. They also pointed out the absence of specific benefits tailored to fathers with multiple children.
Putin acknowledged the concern, stating that the government has been considering such measures. He assured the family that the matter would be addressed and expressed confidence that parliamentarians would respond favorably.
The President emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to expand family support programs into a comprehensive system.
Nina Ostanina, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, outlined potential support measures under consideration, including early retirement options, the establishment of a “Father Hero” title, protection from dismissal for sole breadwinners, and assistance with housing solutions.
Putin also expressed his hope that regional and municipal authorities, public organizations, and businesses would increase their support for large families and assist them in addressing their specific needs.
