Russian President Vladimir Putin has mandated lowering the minimum age for drone racing participants from 10 to 7 years old, according to an announcement on the Kremlin website.
This initiative aims to broaden youth engagement in the sport and identify promising young talents. The order also directs the establishment of competitive structures and recognition for successful drone racers.
In a move to further promote the sport, Putin has proposed granting sports ranks and titles to drone racing champions, mirroring the recognition given to athletes in traditional sports. Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev and Drone Racing Federation President Ilya Galaev have been tasked with implementing this directive.
Starting next year, the patriotic volunteer organization “Movement of the First” will be responsible for organizing drone racing championships called “Pilots of the Future.” These events will serve as a platform for young pilots to showcase their skills and potentially be scouted for further development.
The Russian government, under Prime Minister Mishustin, has been instructed to secure funding for these initiatives within the upcoming budget. This allocation underscores the government’s commitment to supporting youth development in this field.
Furthermore, Putin has ordered the creation of advisor positions in all state schools to oversee education and engagement with children’s public associations. These advisors will likely play a role in promoting drone racing and other activities among students.
