Russian and Ukrainian delegations may continue negotiations after analysis of transmitted draft memorandums. The Kremlin hopes for the continuation of negotiations.
During a phone call on June 4, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump discussed the results of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov commented that the conversation lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. The leaders agreed to continue contacts at various levels to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
Putin detailed the content and results of the Istanbul negotiations, emphasizing their usefulness. Trump reaffirmed that the United States was not informed in advance about Kyiv’s plans to attack Russian airfields.
Trump stated the need to assist Russia in the situation with the Iranian nuclear program. The presidents exchanged views on the prospects for restoring Russian-American cooperation in various fields, noting the enormous potential.
Putin told Trump about Kyiv’s deliberate attacks on Russian civilian objects during negotiations. The question of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky has never been in the practical sphere, and the exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and the United States was not discussed this time.
Moscow and Washington had previously agreed that a conversation between Putin and Trump should be held after the second round of Istanbul negotiations. The Kremlin believes that the Kyiv regime has degenerated into a terrorist organization.
In Istanbul on June 2, the parties agreed on a large-scale exchange of prisoners on an “all for all” basis for the sick, seriously wounded, and prisoners under the age of 25, totaling at least 1,000 people. Kyiv and Moscow also agreed to cease fire in certain areas to facilitate the collection of bodies.
