The purple “Baltiets-2” train model has arrived at the St. Petersburg metro for testing, following its final assembly at the Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant (OEVRZ). The OEVRZ and the metro jointly announced the completion of the assembly just a day prior to the arrival.
This new train, unlike the previously delivered red “Baltiets” models, is specifically designated for the fifth metro line, also known as the Frunzensko-Primorskaya line.
The introduction of the purple “Baltiets-2” train into passenger service is anticipated to occur sometime this year.
Updates to the “Baltiets” configuration have been made since the original models were supplied to the first metro line. The contract for the supply of new rolling stock under a lease is ongoing.
In addition to the red “Baltiets” trains currently running on the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya line and the newly arrived purple “Baltiets-2” trains, St. Petersburg is expecting deliveries of blue trains for the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya line and brown trains for the initial section of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line. The bodies of these trains have already been observed at Metrovagonmash in the Moscow region, where the bogie and the car itself are assembled.
