Public Space to Appear in Petrodvortsovy District Based on Student Design

A new public space is set to be created in the Petrodvortsovy district of St. Petersburg, Russia, bounded by Krasnoselsky Highway, the extension of Veteranov Avenue currently under construction, and Budyonny Avenue.

The winning design for this space comes from students at St. Petersburg State University (SPbGU). Their landscape and architectural concept was selected after a competition organized by the developer, Setl Group.

The competition drew participation from 50 teams representing seven of St. Petersburg’s leading universities. Ultimately, 15 teams advanced to the final stage.

Pavel Sugak, head of the Architectural Bureau of Setl Group, emphasized the complexities of the project. He noted that despite its apparent simplicity, the design process was challenging due to various constraints, including existing roads, utility networks, and surrounding buildings.

In addition to receiving a monetary prize, the winning team will have the opportunity to intern at the Architectural Bureau of Setl Group. This internship will allow the students to collaborate with professionals and further refine their concept.
