A project detailing the transport infrastructure for the future Lakhta-2 and Lakhta-3 skyscrapers is undergoing public review, outlining plans for comprehensive access via various modes of transportation. The documentation, released on June 11th, specifies road construction and modifications around the new complexes, aligning with the skyscrapers’ projected completion by 2032 and occupancy by 2035.
The initial phase focuses on connecting the skyscrapers to the existing street network, aiming for completion between 2030 and 2031. This involves constructing and reconstructing streets bordering the towers, including Vysotnaya Street, Vodnaya Street, and Beregovaya Street. Vysotnaya and Vodnaya Streets are planned as four-lane roads, while Beregovaya, Bobylskaya, and the lanes will be two-lane roads.
A major interchange connecting Shuvalovsky Prospekt, Lakhtinsky Prospekt, and Vysotnaya Street is slated for construction by 2042 to facilitate car and public transport access. The interchange will include a loop by the bay west of the towers leading to Vysotnaya Street. After the interchange is complete, a full bike route will be created, connecting the Open Embankment to Sestroretsk and Park 300 Letiya.
The project addresses the presence of a “small craft base and service facility” near the bay, clarifying that while the skyscrapers’ construction precludes its continuation, yacht parking will remain without additional services.
Synergy JSC signed an agreement with the city at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) for the construction of two new skyscrapers, 703 meters and 555 meters high.
The redevelopment of the area is necessitated by significant changes since the existing street network was established in the 1960s and 1970s, initially serving a summer cottage village. The placement of the Lakhta Center Multifunctional Complex has driven the need for improved infrastructure.
The planned M-32 highway overpass, slated for completion around 2028, will connect to Lakhtinsky Prospekt and Vysotnaya Street, allowing independent functioning of the street network and unhindered access to the existing Lakhta Center.
Public transport will be integrated into the new street network even before the interchange is constructed, with the M-32 highway playing a role. The future interchange will accommodate bus routes, metro stations, a tram line to Yuntolovo, and a railway station.
