Mushroom pickers in the Moscow region are experiencing the first summer harvest, finding orange-cap boletes, sulfur shelf mushrooms, and even the occasional porcini. Enthusiasts are sharing their discoveries and recommended spots on social media.
Orange-cap boletes and birch boletes have been spotted in the Ramensky district, near Aksyonovo, according to social media reports. One forager noted finding the first orange-cap and birch boletes, along with numerous tiny chanterelles, in the Taldomsky district near Meldino. Another resident of Klin reported the appearance of both berries and mushrooms, albeit in small quantities.
Summer oyster mushrooms are also abundant in the forests of the Moscow region. These mushrooms, known for their distinctive aroma, grow in clusters. One enthusiast reported finding them in the Losino-Petrovsky district.
Sulfur shelf mushrooms, which grow on trees and are said to have a flavor similar to chicken, have also been found. They have been located in the Mytishchi district.
While the peak season for porcini mushrooms is yet to come, some individuals have already found single specimens. In the Podolsk urban district, one person reported finding a porcini mushroom alongside the beginning of the chanterelle season.
Those venturing into the forests are advised to exercise caution, as snakes have become more active with the warmer weather. Vipers, grass snakes, and other reptiles have been reported in various areas of the Moscow region.
