Price Increases in Russia: Recent Data and Trends

Overall, prices in Russia have shown a slight increase of 0.04% over the past week, with a total increase of 3.64% since the beginning of the year, according to recent Rosstat data.

Several food items experienced price hikes between June 10 and 16. Pasta and vermicelli saw a notable increase of 0.5%, followed by chicken at 0.4%. Semi-smoked sausages, cheeses, baby food, and pork also became more expensive, with increases ranging from 0.2% to 0.3%. Bread, tea, sour cream, and cookies experienced slight increases of 0.2%. In the vegetable category, beets saw the most significant price increase at 2.5%, followed by carrots at 2.4%, and cucumbers at 1.4%. Apples also became more expensive, rising by 1.3%.

Non-food products such as diapers, soap, washing powder, and medicines like Analgin and Lizobakt also experienced price increases. In the service sector, accommodation in hostels rose by 1.7%, and urban transport fares for buses and trolleybuses increased by 0.2%.

Conversely, some products became more affordable. White cabbage prices decreased by 4.5%, while tomatoes fell by 1.7%. Potatoes and bananas also saw price reductions of 0.7%. Chicken eggs experienced a significant decrease of 1.8%, and lamb, butter, and sugar prices fell by 0.3%. Appliances such as TVs, smartphones and vacuum cleaners also became cheaper, with price drops of 1.1% and 0.7% respectively. Trips to boarding houses and rest homes, as well as accommodation in hotels of category 3 stars and higher, also experienced slight price decreases.
