St. Petersburg can expect a generally warm summer in 2025, but with variable conditions, including rain in June and a drier August. According to the city’s chief meteorologist, Alexander Kolesov, the overall summer season is anticipated to be warmer than normal.
The forecast indicates that the first half of June will see temperatures ranging from +15…+20 °С, with a potential spike to +25 °С around June 16. However, short-term rainfall is expected around June 19–20 due to approaching cyclones, which may cause a slight dip in air temperature, likely to fall between 15 and 20 degrees.
A warming trend is predicted for the second half of June, with temperatures potentially reaching +28…+29 °С. Nevertheless, the weather forecaster advises tempering expectations, suggesting a more probable range of around 18 degrees near the Gulf of Finland and 23 °С within the city.
July is expected to have average rainfall. August is forecast to be drier with higher temperatures.
Kolesov highlighted that this forecast is preliminary, emphasizing the difficulties in predicting summer weather, especially with ongoing global warming.
Reflecting on the past spring, March was notably warm, with an average temperature of +2.7 degrees, the second highest in recorded history. The end of March saw record-breaking heat, including exceeded night and daytime temperatures. April’s average temperature was more moderate, while the beginning of May was cold, with snowfall. However, the weather stabilized towards the end of May, with temperatures rising.
