Power Outage Plagues Elite Moscow Residential Complex

A fire in an underground parking lot has left residents of the “Paveletskaya City” residential complex in Moscow without power for the second day. The outage affects multiple buildings within the complex, leaving residents without the ability to cook, heat food, or use elevators. The complex, located on Dubininskaya Street, is a business-class high-rise, with one building reaching 47 floors.

The fire, which occurred around 5:30 AM on June 2nd, damaged the electrical panel room, preventing the connection of a generator. The management company stated that specialists are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

Residents are facing significant challenges due to the lack of electricity. One resident, Anastasia, who lives on the 35th floor with her husband and one-year-old daughter, described the situation as resembling a “zombie apocalypse.” The long staircases, lacking ventilation and lighting, make it difficult for residents, especially mothers with children, to retrieve hot meals provided in the lobby.

Ordering food delivery has also become problematic, as couriers are often unwilling to climb to the upper floors. Some residents are paying extra for delivery directly to their apartments. Candlelit dinners have become the norm.

Bottled water and flashlights have been made available on the first floor of one building. Residents have reportedly contacted the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, but were informed that the building is not on the city’s balance sheet, leaving them to rely on the management company.

The power outage follows similar incidents in the Moscow region.
