The State Administrative and Technical Inspection of St. Petersburg has granted a permit for restoration work on the Vittolovsky Bridge-Dam located within the Tsarskoye Selo museum-reserve. The announcement was made by the State Administrative and Technical Inspection press service on June 3.
The Vittolovsky Bridge-Dam, an architectural monument situated in Catherine Park, is a federal cultural heritage site dating back to the 18th century. It is characterized by its greyish-pink granite facing.
The restoration project is scheduled to conclude by September 30, 2026, as stipulated in the permit.
The State Art and Architectural Palace and Park Museum-Reserve “Tsarskoye Selo” is the designated client overseeing the restoration.
The Vittolovsky Bridge-Dam spans the Vittolovsky Canal, extending the path from the palace to the Orlov Gates. Both the bridge and canal are named in honor of Andrei Vittol, a Dutch merchant and shipbuilder who possessed land in the area during the early 18th century.
