Passenger Flow Calculation Ordered for St. Petersburg Metro Brown Line Extension

A passenger flow calculation has been commissioned for a section of St. Petersburg’s brown metro line extending beyond the “Karetnaia” station, where an exit to the High-Speed Rail (HSR) is planned. The study focuses on future passenger traffic as part of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line project.

The contract, valued at approximately 4 million, was signed on May 29th. Metroproekt, the contractor, is tasked with calculating prospective passenger flows for elements of the St. Petersburg Metro network. This is related to project documentation for the section between the “Karetnaia” and “Suvorovskaya-1” stations.

Metroproekt is the designer of this section. Three stations are planned for construction on this section of the line: “Ligovsky Prospekt-2,” “Znamenskaya,” and “Suvorovskaya-1.”

The “Ligovsky Prospekt-2” station exit is scheduled for completion in 2028. It is intended to provide passenger access to the HSR terminal. At the time of opening, the brown line extension will not be complete. It will initially serve as a second exit for the existing “Ligovsky Prospekt” station.

Metroproekt is a subsidiary of Metro Stroy Severnoy Stolitsy. It was established to enhance MSSS’s design capabilities.
