Over 2,300 Children Cured of Hepatitis C Through Krug Dobra Foundation

Over 2,300 children have been successfully treated for hepatitis C in the last four years thanks to medications provided by the Krug Dobra Foundation. Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, head of the foundation, reported this achievement during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, May 30th.

Tkachenko stated that the supplied medications have demonstrated “almost one hundred percent effectiveness” in curing 2,370 children of the viral liver infection since the foundation’s creation.

The Krug Dobra Foundation, established in 2021, currently supports 29,000 sick children in total.

In addition to providing direct medication, the foundation also supplies medicines to the St. Petersburg center for supporting children with rare (orphan) diseases, which opened in March 2025 at the Children’s City Hospital No. 2 of St. Mary Magdalene.

The Krug Dobra Foundation is headed by Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, who is also the founder and general director of the St. Petersburg Children’s Hospice. The foundation’s funding comes from increased personal income tax levied on citizens earning over 5 million rubles annually. Specialists at Krug Dobra procure medications for children diagnosed with any of 89 specific conditions.
