More than 200 Russian schoolchildren were expelled from the Unified State Exam (EGE) over two days, according to Anzor Muzaev, the head of Rosobrnadzor. The expulsions occurred during the ongoing exam period, with a significant number of students caught using prohibited items.
Muzaev specified that 70 of those expelled were found to be using communication devices during the exam. The use of such devices is strictly prohibited during the EGE to ensure fairness and prevent cheating.
On May 30th, approximately 650,000 graduates were taking the EGE in the Russian language. The EGE is a crucial exam for Russian students as it serves as both a high school graduation exam and a university entrance exam.
Reasons for potential expulsion from the EGE in 2025, along with the consequences of expulsion, have been detailed in a Fontanka article.
