Opening of the Japanese Macaque Pavilion and Completion of the “Asia” Complex in the Novosibirsk Zoo

The Novosibirsk Zoo is set to open a pavilion featuring Japanese macaques by the end of August 2025, with the entire “Asia” complex, including the macaque pavilion, expected to be completed by the end of October. This announcement was made by Zoo Director Andrey Shilo.

The “Asia” complex will house a variety of animals, including tapirs, honey badgers, tree kangaroos, and small red pandas. The Japanese macaque pavilion is currently 90% complete, while the pavilions for small red pandas, tapirs, and honey badgers are 20-25% and approximately 40% ready, respectively.

The entire “Asia” complex is scheduled to be fully operational by the spring of 2026, with all landscaping completed at that time.

In addition to the “Asia” complex, construction has commenced on a “North” complex for polar wolves, owls, foxes, and polar bears. This complex will feature underwater viewing areas for observing polar bears swimming.

Recently, the Novosibirsk Zoo opened a new aviary showcasing exotic birds.
