Ongoing Magnetic Storm Continues to Affect Earth

A magnetic storm, triggered by a solar plasma cloud impacting Earth on June 1st, is still ongoing and scientists predict geomagnetic disturbances will persist. Researchers from the Space Research Institute (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISZF) are monitoring the event.

The probability of a magnetic storm on Tuesday, June 3rd, is estimated at 80%, with space weather expected to calm down by Wednesday morning. While the peak activity occurred in the preceding days, geomagnetic agitation is forecast to continue throughout Tuesday.

Magnetic storms are defined as abrupt disturbances in the Earth’s geomagnetic field that can last from hours to days. These storms are caused by increased solar activity, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which can disrupt satellites, communications, and the health of sensitive individuals.

For weather-sensitive individuals, magnetic storms can lead to changes in heart function and blood pressure fluctuations, causing weakness, dizziness, and breathing difficulties. These symptoms are often experienced the day following geomagnetic impacts.

Doctors recommend that weather-sensitive individuals increase their water intake and reduce their consumption of salty foods, as salt can elevate blood pressure. Dietary adjustments are advised, emphasizing vegetables, fruits, fish, herbs, and nuts, while limiting spicy, fried, and fatty foods. Green or herbal tea is recommended as a substitute for black tea.

Alcohol, cigarettes, and energy drinks, including coffee and strong tea, should be avoided during a magnetic storm. Additionally, it is crucial to minimize stress to prevent the aggravation of headaches.
